Electrification and high-speed is the development tendency of the present world railway transport. In recent years, the construction of Chinese high-speed network is gradually perfect. With the fast development of our country's high-speed electrified railway, in high-speed railway the requirement of quality between pantograph and catenary is increasingly strict. Because offline between pantograph and catenary is an important factor that influences reliable collecting, and arcing is the important effecting about offline between pantograph and catenary, so arcing between pantograph and catenary gets more and more people's attention.Based on the researching of detection method about existing offline between pantograph and catenary both home and abroad, designing the high-speed railway pantograph and catenary arcing detection system based on image processing. This system use intelligent planar array cameras which assembled both sides of pantograph to photographed catenary continuously, usied image processing extract the edge of arcing and obtain the position information transfer from Tax box in real time, save detection data for the relevant department reference.Firstly, this article studied on the characteristics of the arcing between pantograph and catenary, the reason of the arcing phenomena and the harm of arcing phenomena based on the electrical contact theory; After a comparative analysis of digital image processing related algorithms, designing image processing algorithm which suits to this system. After researching on the imageing principle of the camera, based on the requirement of detection task and studied on the requirement of system working environment, choose MVC1000DAM-GE30 gigabit color camera of Microview company and 4mm wide-angle lens as data processing unit, industry computer as data processing unit, realize the the design of the hardware structure. Based on the software engineering theory and the software engineering technich, analyse,design and realize the software detection system, finally finish the design of the high-speed railway pantograph and catenary arcing detection system.
