With the development of internet technology and the coming of the post-PC era, the embedded systems is becoming the center of interest in the IT industry and exhibiting broad potential market, the application areas and complexity of the embedded systems are growing rapidly. Ground digital television system will be further developed in the major fields, which are stabled receivers and mobile receivers.The latter ones are considered to be the trend, so an embedded platform with mobile digital television functions could have a promising future doubtlessly,therefore,researches focusing on embedded implementation of digital TV are significant.In this paper the embedded technology background and the characteristic has been introduced,and the PXA270 development platform composed of a basic circuit needed has been studied.This paper describes the specific scheme of implementing the DVB-T Tuner device in an ARM platform with a PXA270 processor,and discusses the possibility of utilizing an ARM platform for digital television function. The architecture and features of PXA270 are firstly described in detail, completed the entire design process schematic. The core board is a minimum computer system, and the expanding board contains ethernet interface, audio interface,etc. Then, the method of porting the Linux 2.6.16 kernel to the development board with a PXA270 processor is introduced, and the process of installing the Twinhan DTV Magic Box (VP7041) device driver in Linux is described,finally the MPEG-2 TS decoding algorithm is provided.
