Paper-like electronic reader has radiationless, flicker free, taking convenience, long standby time and so on. It is more and more popular. With the rapid development and application of the wireless network, users expect the electronic reader supports wireless network in order to use it anytime, anywhere. However, any of the wireless network technologys has the different features on coverage, transmission speed and cost. For the purpose of meeting the various requirements of the network applications, the paper-like electronic reader must support several wireless networks technologys to create the stable and continuous network environment.Through the discussion and comparison of wireless network technologys, the wireless network compose of 3G and WiFi could support broad coverage, desired transmission speed and reasonable cost. Based on these two wireless network technologys, this paper constructs the multiple wireless networks architecture in order to meeting network requirements of the electronic reader.Based on the architecture, this paper designs the wireless network controlling module in order to create and maintain the network environment for the network application. The module has solved the problems of identifying the 3G module, saving wireless network connection information, estimating the failure reasons of 3G connection, connecting WiFi network automaticly, switching network between 3G and WiFi and optimizing the network. The multiple wireless networks architecture has been completed on one paper-like electronic reader. Through the RSS reading and online bookstore, this architecture has been proved feasible and practicability.
