In recent years, people pay more attention on safety, comfort and convenience of intelligent building, so higher requirement is put forward on its design, In the traditional design of intelligent buildings, we usually adopt the way of generic cabling, but three are many drawbacks, such as waste of resource, fragile and aging lines, repair inconvenience, wiring complexity and so on. In contrast, wireless sensor networks (WSN) not only can compensate for these shortcomings, but also with its own characteristics, flexible and scalable, it can quickly and accurately made on the network fault diagnosis. So application of wireless sensor networks in intelligent buildings is inevitable.This paper describes the development of intelligent building, application of wireless sensor networks in intelligent building and the problems faced first, and analyses architecture and features of wireless sensor networks. Then we studied technology of Wireless-grouped Network and communication standards, and designed the architecture of communication protocol aimed at intelligent buildings.This paper designs the hardware of node in wireless sensor networks, In order to meet large capacity and high speed requirements, we choose ARM2131 of ARM7 family as Processor chip. We also choose a low power CC2420 chip as communications chip, which can complete data well, and control transmission of commands better. Full-featured hardware design, low energy consumption needs, and installation flexibility prove advantages of the design.We researched Coverage Technology which is one of the core technology in intelligent buildings and decides monitoring capacity of the entire network, including the basic concepts, several important issues of coverage, area coverage, point coverage, barrier coverage, and discussed evaluation criteria of coverage. We improved virtual force algorithm (VFA) base on the original theory, and get the more effective algorithm CCVFA. Through comparing simulation results of nodes under two algorithms, we can see that nodes under CCVFA is more stable and effective. This algorithm can cover more completely in the case of not wasting nodes, in order to achieve cost saving,and optimize coverage.
