For the entire textile industry, the textile exports are the engine of development and the progress of the textile industry is the basis of the textile exports and the industry-wide development. With the development of modern science and technology and people's living conditions improve, people call for increasingly high quality of textile products in daily life. As a textile big country, China plays an irreplaceable role in the textile sector. During the processing of spinning and weaving, the tension and speed are two important parameters. They directly relate to the quality of products, production efficiency and smooth subsequent production process.The paper mainly researches the detection system of yarn tension and speed based on the optical mouse sensor. According to the characteristics of optical mouse sensors, a real-time tension and speed detection system based on laser reflection principle is designed. In the past, the instrument for detection of the yarn's tension and speed must contact with the yarn, and then the tension and speed can be measured. However, the two surfaces in contact are bound to cause the error for yarn detection because of friction. As the same time, because the instrument prolonged expose to moving yarn, it will definitely cause the surface of the instrument wear and tear, and shorten the life of the instrument. In the process of yarn detection in this design, differently from the traditional yarn detection methods, it does not require contact with the yarn, and will detection the tension and speed of yarn on the real-time, which is convenient and rapid, high sensitivity. Thereby the detection of yarn tension and speed will be enhanced.On the hardware side, this paper designs the detection system of yarn tension and speed which uses FPGA for the host computer, AVR Microcontroller for lower computer, and transmits data through bus. Optical mouse sensor with ADNS-2051 chip as a sensor, the system collects data and calculates the tension and speed of yarn though a certain algorithm from the AVR Microcontroller. Then, through the bus, the results of the multi-channel signals are transmitted to the host computer FPGA to carry out an overall control. In terms of software, for AVR Microcontroller, data is collected by PS2 protocol. According to dynamic principle, it has a quantitative relationship between the tension and speed of yarn and its natural frequency. By measuring the changes in the natural frequency of the yarn, the tension and speed will be got. The method makes the precision higher and has strong anti-interference ability. CAN bus communication protocol is used to communicate and complete the sending and receiving data between FPGA and AVR microcontroller.The experimental results achieved the expected goal, which proves the design scheme is practicable.
