As we enter the information age, the application of IT technology shed its light on every corner of our society. It covers areas like industrial/agricultural application, scientific research, financial sector, transportation system, and also includes every facets of our daily life. The widely adoption of the IT technology facilitates its further development. Technology breakthrough in computer system, telecommunication network and network database, object oriented methods, those all contribute to the later rapid development of information management system. This thesis will focus on the development of real-time Student Management Information System (SMIS).After identifying shortcomings in B/S and C/S structures, this thesis will discuss application of mixed architecture B/S and C/S in Student Management Information System (SMIS). The system will use ASP.NET and SQL Server for web server application programming. They are the effective solution for developing real-time, interactive, highly efficient and practical information management system.Besides that, this thesis depicts current situation and future trends in overseas' information management research. It will give in-depth explanation in the areas like B/S and C/S mixed architecture, object oriented methods, real-time database technology, and data mining. After providing in-depth analysis which based on the requirements of information management system, it will guide you through the system function model design, database structure design and realization, and core function model building and testing.This is a well designed, easy-to-use, real-time based, multi-query, interface user friendly information management system. It will provide efficient support for campus student management by using this system. By utilizing its management and query functions, it will give sufficient support on school development planning and scientific decision making.
