With the launching of modern distance education, E-learning learning format is gradually accepted by people, and we have gradually entered the era of network-oriented education. Around us there are a large number of digital educational resources:lesson plans, handouts, images, audio, video and so on, which have greatly enriched people's life and improve the quality of learning. The development of internet technology has promoted the large-scale and rapid spread of digitized educational resources. Modern distance education is inseparable from learning platform. If users use a platform together at the same time, there will be a greater amount of data volume, higher bandwidth and real-time audio and video resources. All of these make a higher demand of a server and network performance for strong distance learning platform. A large amount of data storage and the simultaneous access of the same data by a large number of users will result in many difficulties in the server's storage capacity, I/O bandwidth, processing load and network transmission, which will greatly affect the distance education learning and its development. If the teaching and learning platform and resources storage ate set up in all schools, in the practical implementation many problems will be created because of student number, economic development, and network conditions. Particularly in the less developed western regions, there will be difficulties even greater difficulties in establishing and applying a complete platform for distance education and teaching.To address the above problems, considering the current use of distance learning platform at Gansu Radio and TV University, the thesis introduces cloud storage technology, automatic update database and synchronous automatic downloads of resources into online distance learning platform at Gansu Radio and TV University. The thesis researches the online distance learning platform for simultaneous access of a great number of users. The audio and video stream will be distributed to the network. To this end, the research takes fully into account the application of distance learning platform, human factors and user-demand video service system. Furthermore, the thesis conducts an in-depth study of key technologies, such as data storage, database updates and synchronization of resources. The thesis puts forward the following improvements and innovations:the use of cloud storage technology; academic database information is automatically updated; resource update is automatically downloaded; synchronized update technology. Thus the burden of the management staff will be greatly reducing.This thesis introduces cloud storage technology as well as automatic update and download technology into distance education platform, which will fully meet the teaching and learning needs in the less developed western regions. The research helps to solve of modern distance education a help solve many problems existing in the current platform for distance learning.
