Research And Reality Of Computer Supported Cooperative Distance Education

Distance education is a great supplement to the conventional education and an important means of continuous education in China. So far most network education platforms just provide information and knowledge with little supporting to interactive abilities and management to the cooperation between teachers and students, limiting the effective of teaching and learning.Based on the researches to distance education and CSCW, Computer Supported Cooperative Work, which has been widely used in industries, this paper applies the principle and related techniques of CSCW into distance education to develop CSCDE, Computer Supported Cooperative Distance Education, which realizes cooperative teaching, learning, management and working. The experience to contract IDE or SDE in developed counties shows that it is very important for CSCDE to construct a harmonious digital information environment which consists of computer network, educational platform, education management and information security, etc. According to the requirements of online interacting and learning platform, this paper researches the functions, architecture, framework, workflow and database of a platform supporting CSCDE based on analyzing and comparing some models and key techniques, and develops the function modules needing'cooperation'which shows the efficiency can be improved using the network education platform of CSCDE.
