With the advantage of anti-jamming,anti-ARM,and anti-stealth,passive radar based on external illuminator is becoming an important branch of radar systems.Firstly,a brief introduction of FM broadcast signal as external illuminator and a analysis of characteristics and the ambiguity function pictures of FM broadcast signal is given in this paper,key technology and basic signal processing flow of passive radar based on external illuminator is analyzed and signal processing flows such as adaptive clutter cancellation,range-doppler processing,CFAR are researched.Then,key research of passive location technology based on external illuminator is given,the principle and algorithm of location technology of T ? R and T n? R bistatic radar system is introduced especially,at one time each method is analyzed and emulated,geometric dilution of precision(GDOP) of each method is emulated for different station position,different measurement error and different measurement subset.Accordingly some valuable academic and emulational results are obtained,which provide researchers in this field with definite technical reference.Finally,object display platform is implemented using Visual C++ 6.0 software language under Microsoft Windows system.
