With the maturity of the high power LED technology, LED driving design is becoming more and more important. On the basis of characteristics of the high power LED, if the working temperature is so high or the working current is so large that they excess the limited value, the LED will be damaged. Therefore a driving technique with constant temperature, constant current, perfect and reliable protection functions is necessary.This paper did some research about high power LED driver from its basic characteristics, then analyzed and compared some kinds of LED driver technology. According to some problems exist in current development of LED technology, which must represent energy saving and have high luminous effect as well as light source stability, a drive and control system has been designed applying to different high power LEDs with different parameters. This system took constant current source as main boday, and it has reached real-time monitoring and high-precision control to current of high power LED, along with a function of adjustable luminace, which can be used in an intelligent lighting system with kinds of high power LED lighting stably.Finally, we tested the constant current characteristic, the parameters changing of LEDs which caused by the circuit structure and external environment. It is proven that, in the characteristics and interrelated indicator satisfied, the solution can improve the current stability from LED lighting output. Accordingly the research has achieved intelligent control of digitalize lighting driver, simultaneously it has a great significance to development of high power LED lighting.
