Research On The OAM Mechanism In SUPANET

Under the trend of "three networks merge into an integrated one", Sichuan Network Communication Key Laboratory (SC-Netcom Lab) introduces "SUPANET (Single physical layer User-data switching Platform Architecture Network)", which is based on "EPFTS (Ethernet-oriented Physical Frame Timeslot)". SUPANET simplifies the user-data switch platform (U-platform) to a single physical layer and provides service to satisfy QoS applications. The user data flow is uploaded by user virtual line.Protocols of SUPANET include QoSNP, TMEP, CEP, ACP and so on. The SUPANET has a series of QoS guarantee mechanisms. The OAM mechanism researched in the thesis uses OAM mechanisms of other networks and the working characteristics of SUPANET for reference. The operation, administration and maintenance mechanisms are defined in U-platform of SUPANET in the thesis, which have relation to the special information and mechanisms of appropriative protocols of SUPANET.The thesis has defined the function of the OAM mechanism on U-platform of SUPANET, and analyzed the relation and interaction between the OAM mechanism and SUPANET protocols. The OAM mechanism has two function of Performance Management and Fault Management. The OAM mechanism uses some parameters carried by PDU of SUPANET protocols, which can be readed in SUPANET-MIB. In addition, OAM mechanism may make other mechanisms and protocols of SUPANET function. OAM mechanism has defined more management for objects of SUPANET, that can make SUPANET be more effective and credible.Beside the definition of function, the thesis also analyzed the running process of OAM mechanism. The OAM-MIB about OAM information tables and OAM group management tables in SUPA nodes and the OAM frame formats are defined, with the analysis of OAM frames transmission, especially the OAM relay frames.Finally, the function of Performance Management of OAM mechanism and the result store is modelered by means of OPNET. The modeler has validated its feasibility.
