Physical layer in mobile communication technology is the key to a dynamic environment, in a variety of restrictions and conditions on the number of users to the communication quality in the ever-increasing demands, but also to ensure the security and confidentiality of communications. This is one of research priorities is to strengthen the traditional airspace and frequency, so that the airspace in the mobile communications play its great potential, and this is the use of multi-antenna technology in order to make full use of the airspace over the information to improve communication quality and increase system capacity. Smart antennas and multiple-input multiple-output antenna systems are multi-antenna system, including the DOA estimation, beamforming, space-time-frequency coding, spatial multiplexing technology and so on. Beamforming smart antenna technology as the core technology, in communications, radar and other fields have a wide range of applications, the selected algorithm determines the transient response rates and the complexity of the circuit. MIMO technology combined with antenna diversity and space-time processing technology, which originated from antenna diversity and smart antenna technology can be said to belong to a broad scope of the smart antenna. This paper focus on smart antennas and MIMO beamforming system, including the following:First of all, the analysis of the research background, an overview of the progress of related technologies at home and abroad to study the contents and the contribution, and then set out a comprehensive and smart antennas MIMO systems based on theoretical knowledge. On this basis, the research carried out as follows:1. Introduced of smart antenna, MIMO systems and beam forming technology, space-time coding technology. Beamforming technology discussed the basic criteria and algorithms. Introduced the classic method of beamforming algorithm and its application, and Capon Beamformer Simulation Analysis of a key. 2. Analysis of the space-time coding of the basic principles. On this basis, this article focuses on the space-time block codes and Alamouti typical simulation analysis program as an example. Circumstances on a variety of system bit error rate analysis, and simulation results have shown differences in the performance comparison and analysis.3. Research on smart antennas combined with MIMO technology,and research on the joint space-time block codes from several aspects of beam-forming technology, simulation and analysis, and based on rotation matrix of the existing programs be improved. Simulation results show that the channel fading environment, STBC and beamforming technology, a combination of performance than a simple space-time block codes are significantly improved. The system performance has been further improved.
