It is believed that the wireless MIMO technology will be one of the key ones that realize the high-speed broadband wireless Internet access networks in the future. This thesis mainly make further research on the related theories about three main aspects: channel models, channel capacity and coding scheme. Moreover, a few important results are verified through a number of computer-aided simulations using MATLAB. The main contents of the dissertation are expressed as follows:The first chapter introduces the background and significance of the research, and the simple overview of the research and application of wireless MIMO technology at present, including some progresses and existed problems.In the second chapter, a research is made on the basis of full research on the theories of space-time channel model proposed in the recent literature. In addition, a simulation platform was established for wireless MIMO channel by using MATLAB.In the third chapter, channel capacity on both the ideal condition and restricted by many factors is analyzed and compared, whose emphasis is analyzing the impact of known and unknown channel state information on the capacity of MIMO channel. The simulation is performed, and the related simulation results are also given. At the same time, It specifically analyzed the capacity for two kind of special MIMO channel. The formula for computing the capacity of the two channel is obtained.The fourth chapter investigates the main coding schemes proposed in the recent literature for wireless MIMO system. And, it analyses and compares the space-time algorithms such as space-time block coding, space-time trellis coding, layered space-time coding. And, a lot of computer simulations for the algorithms are performed. The simulation results and corresponding analysis are also given.The fifth chapter is a brief conclusion of the thesis, and further research issues are given as well.
