With the rapid development of communications networks, e-mail is well popular with its convenient and fast features by the majority of the internet users. Whether individuals, businesses, governments and even the military, etc., communicate with each other by e-mail in daily life and work. Traditional e-mail technology is a poor secure information transmission technology. At present, the vast majority of E-mail transmits by plaintext in the network. It makes the transmission of E-mail be threatened by all aspects of secure threats, including information disclosure, content tampering, identity faking, communication denying, etc. These questions of E-mail system restrict its further use in government, military.E-mail s own security risks and the particularity of confidential information put forward higher requirements to E-mail security. Through research, it needs to develop the e-mail system of high safety and assigned package of large attachments to meet security requirements.First of all, the paper deeply researched the knowledge of e-mail and the potential threat in the traditional e-mail system, investigated and analyzed the e-mail transmission of the principle, e-mail protocols and password security technology. Then compared the domestic and international e-mail security technologies, and primarily studied the end to end security technologies, to necessary reserve knowledge for design and implementation of project. Then based on a specific company project, the paper discussed the system requirements and given the overall system design architecture and main modules. Then, starting from the e-mail security, primarily achieved assigned package and encrypt-decrypt authentication mechanism, and elaborated the implementation of a secure system. Finally, summarized this paper, and pointed out that the secure e-mail system direction of further work.Based on a specific company project, this paper designed specific security e-mail system, in order to achieve end to end secure e-mail transmission. The system includes the center e-mail system and the terminal e-mail system. Based on the study of existing secure technology, the paper analyzed and compared the advantages and disadvantages of several secure technology, then referenced the mainstream security email program of the combination of S/MIME and PKI. Because this is a star topology structure with the command center as the center. All the terminals trusted in the center. In accordance with the concept of CA in PKI, we established the corporations internal CA, that is a trust institution using the center to issue a digital certificate. This also avoided insecurity from the induction of third-party certification center. To enhance the system security, we increased the assigned package sending and receiving function. It effectively solves several secure problems in traditional e-mail system, and has profound significance in guaranteeing the transmission of confidential information.
