With the popularization of Internet, network application, especially ElectronicCommerce and Electronic Government begin to become important activities on thenet. The online security becomes a question that can't be ignored day by day becauseof its importance in network application. People need to offer and distinguish theidentity and authority information in the network, so as to ensure the mutual securityof the network.Web Service is a technology based on XML and relevant technology in theworld, which can realize service-based soft-coupling process recalling in the Internet.During this process, XML that regarded as a carrier for information expressing andtransmission can be used to access a series of operation described by Web Service.XMLEngine (XML-based Information Security Gateway), considering some securityfunctions of XML information, will give a safety and effective guarantee to theWeb-service with XML in the Internet.This task has been designed and realized the information security exchangegateway system based on XML. At first, the thesis has put forward the fundamentalconception of XMLEngine, and has introduced the technological background ofresearch and development. According to the XML1.0 and SOAP of version 1.0.2,many basic concepts will be described, such as XML, SOAP, Web Service involved inthe course of developing, applied cryptography and then XML security. Furthermore,this thesis will provide the model of XMLEngine system structure and has explainedin detail of the implement methods and steps of XMLEngine. Finally, an exampleof online bookstore arrayed XMLEngine clients and servers will be provided.
