The failure of an air nailer is often started form the rupture of the needle assembly which withstands impulse force directly as air nailer in working state, so the life of an air nailer is determined by the needle assembly's strength and ability against the failure. Then anslyzing the key parameters whicd influence the failure of an air nailer becomes the focal point when an air nailer is designed. There are some difficulties when failure anslysis is being done, such as the needle assembly suffering comples force, contact problem among the accessories and the rupture of the assembly caused by fatigue. Failure analysis being done is meaningful to improve the life of the needle assembly by virture of the ongoing technology of FEA.An air nailer F30 produced by a domestic enterprise has been studied in this paper., Contact analysis for the air nailer's needle assembly is done based on PRO/E and FEA software ANSYS, and following with the fatigue analysis testing of the needle assembly's life fatigue analysis is done to validate result of the FEA. The main tasks and achievements are presentded as below:1. An accurate FEM model of the needle assembly is established based on PRO/E software. Using the powerful function of nonlinear analysis to solve the contact problems in ANSYS, static anslysis of structrue is done, by which the key parameters affecting the stress value and distributing is discocered.2. The factors influencing the fatigue life of the needle assembly are obtained with the help of ANSYS fatigue model.In conclusion, with systematic analysis and research, towards the needle assembly, the method of the nonlinear analysis to solve the contact problems and the fatigue analysis in ANSYS is given. Key factors influencing of the stress and life of the needle assembly is obtained. This study has good value and practical application prospects.
