Mueller matrix is named as "finger print" of biological cells,because all sixteen components together not only contain the information of size,shape and concentration for cells, but also reflect the physiological state of tissues.While with other advantages like being harmless,non-invasive and without contact,Mueller matrix is wildly applied in cancer detection, burn depth determination and reconstruction of biological tissue architectonics etc.Based on the effect of biological tissues on the incident fight can be represented as absorption,phase-retardance and depolarization,this paper proposes a novel Mueller matrix model of biological tissues.The key theory is using the unknown parameters,denoted as those effects mentioned above,to describe all the sixteen Mueller matrix components.Then less intensity measurements are needed.Firstly,this paper takes 6 intensity measurements(including calibration for system) to obtain the 16 elements of Mueller matrix.But much multiply and division calculations of polarized images have to be deal with,which introduces calculation error. To achieve the equilibrium point of intensity measurement times and calculation error,finally this paper presents another measurement method with 10 intensity measurements(including calibration for system) to obtain the 16 elements of Mueller matrix.This paper employs the epithelial cell of onion and wing cell of hornet for the experiment samples.And the results show this novel Mueller matrix model of biological tissues is accurate and reasonable.This paper utilize SEED-VPM642 DSP platform to improve the efficiency of the image collection,which achieves the requirements of real-time measurement.Meanwhile,the code of polarized images processing is optimized,which improves the processing speed greatly. Furthermore,this paper uses the Liquid Crystal Modulator,which is controlled by a monolithic processor,to ensure the stability and convenience of the system.
