With the constant progress of economic society, LED display has already become an indispensable symbol in modern information society as an important means of information transmission. Especially, The LED displays in the field of information services-oriented will be applied more and more widely. Particularly the mass and miniaturization LED displays of standard series types will have characteristics of various type, more practicality. A suit of effective LED electronic chest system is designed in this paper using MCU technology,which cost-effective with a good value.On the basis of summing up a lot of domestic and foreign research information, the whole design scheme was analyzed and determined to combined with the practical issues requirements. The design principles of system are miniaturization, low power consumption and practicality. According to the function request, the system is divided into lower computer system design and upper computer system design. Based on MCU as the lower host processor, the hardware platform of lower computer system was built, which included many key links, such as LED display driver circuit, serial communication circuits, key-press circuit, power circuit and so on. Among them, the dynamic scanning method was described as a characteristic of scan driver circuit based on low-power design principles. Also, the time sequence frequency of dynamic scanning was studied. Subsequently, the upper display software system was established using Visual Basic software, which focused on the realization of font character extraction and serial communications functions. The system works in the following order: confirming Chinese characters information needed to display, extracting the corresponding matrix data using upper computer system, storing the information to the MCU using serial communication mode, and driving LED display screen for image display ultimately.Then, the printed circuit board (PCB) of this system was designed with Protel DXP software. The debugging and application of system verified the feasibility and effectiveness of the method, which provides theoretical and practical reference significance for other similar low-power LED display product development and design.
