The computer simulation of natural phenomenon has become more and more popular in the fields of computer games, movie industry, special effects, and visual simulation. The existing methods mainly focus on rendering realistic snow and can not satisfy the requirements of reality and real time in snow rendering. As a main factor in the snow environment, snowflakes have the characteristics of irregular shape, uncertain movement, and great environmental influence. Therefore, it is difficult to model the morphology of snowflakes. In addition, the influence of the external environment on the surface interaction has not been considered in the simulation process. In order to address the above problems, we will do the research based on the following areas.Firstly, we analyzed the existing natural-photorealistic rendering theory, algorithms and the scope of their application. Then, based on the diversity characteristic of snow, the diffusion limited models is presented to simulate the growth of snow dynamic branch. The sense of texture-mapping level of particle system is improved based by building three-dimensional cohesion nuclear based on fractal and particle systems. Finally, class attenuation function is proposed to simplify equations of snowflake motion.Secondly, for the irregular modeling of stochastic particle systems, the global and local optimal value of space was solved based on particle swarm optimization technology. The falling snow particle trajectories were optimized. At the same time the layout source of the particles was adjusted in order to facilitate results of the equation. The bulletin board was replaced and the real three-dimensional snowing scene rendering is established.Thirdly, in order to simulate the realistic snow scenes interactions with the external environment, we analyze the external environment influencing factors on the surface of snow to improve the traditional snow modeling only affected by temperature. Then real-time accumulating-melting snow model is presented based on temperature changing and surface types to improve the surface calculation of the net amount of snow. At the same time, dynamic mesh model was used for saving a data structure. Rendering snow scene was accelerated based on the GPU.Finally, a snow-simulation system was designed and achieved in order to validate the effectiveness of the algorithm. The algorithm presented in this paper was tested by the system. The realistic modeling was applied to the national air and space projects. This article is a meaningful research and exploration on snow realistic shape modeling and real-time rendering systems.
