The simulation technology of realistic snow scenes has always been an importantresearch field in computer graphics. And the simulation technology of realistic snowscenes is an important of parts in this field. The research of simulation technology of snowscenes not only plays an important role in computer graphics, virtual reality, etc, but alsohas the important practical significance in the fields of meteorology, aerospace, animation, etc. On the basis of the present situation and the research results at home and abroad, thispaper constructs the snow model by particle system. And the paper studies the falling andlanding process of snowflakes, improves the sense of reality and the speed of computation. The main research content and result summarized as follow:(1). Based on Navier-Stokes function of fluid mechanics and the characteristics ofwind model in the space, we establish the wind model and give the solving steps ofconstruction of wind field model. Finally, we apply this model to the around of the objectsin the scenes. By this way, we simulate the tracking of wind around the objects.(2). After modeling the snowflakes by particle system, this paper analyses the stress ofthe landing process of snowflakes and gives the particle motion model in the wind field.Based on the principle of human visual depth, we optimize the initial distribution of largenumber particles when the particles were in the emitter. The studied algorithm alsointroduces the two-way hierarchical design idea and recovery mechanism. So we improvethe computing speeds and display efficiency. On the basis of this solution, we realize therealistic simulation of real-time large snow scenes.(3). Based on recognizing and constructing the snow surface,, the height of snowfall isachieved by the rapid calculation of particle position. Then the surface of the terrain andobject in the scenes are drawn and rendered according to the height data. On the basis ofthis solution, we could simulate the realistic snow fallen in this scenes. The simulation algorithms of reality snow scenes above motioned have beensuccessfully implemented in the prototype system. The simulation effects verify thecorrectness of these studied algorithms.
