Information security has become an important topic in the community. Encryption chip security is an important guarantee for achieving information security. The Side Channel Attack technology, which makes use of the information leaked through encryption process, such as timing message, electromagnetic radiation, error messages and power consumption, is a new and serious threat to information security. There are many ways to achieve the attack. At the moment, no perfect protection exists. It is the development of side channel attack presented a new challenge to information security. Because it's effective and efficient, a serious study should be carried out on the side channel attack.In this thesis, firstly, an introduction of the basic knowledge of cryptography and side channel attack is given. Then introduce the theory of the template attack. By analyzing the relationship between power consumption and electromagnetic information, as well as the relationship between electromagnetic information and the key features, we applied electromagnetic information to the template attack. The premise of the attack is that the adversary has access to an identical experimental device that he can program to his choosing. Proper handling of noise, Used to be considered as a hindrance, and using this to fully extract information present in a single sample is very important to the success of the template attack. At last, an implementation of RC4 is described in detail and an experimental platform is designed and implemented. The experiment verifies the validity of the EM template attack on RC4 and the practicability of the platform.
