Multi-sensor data fusion has attracted a wide spread attention in recent years, which is a comprehensive subject of studying the multi-source information. Heterogeneous multi-sensor system is a network which comprises dissimilar sensors. A comprehensive understanding of the targets and the situation in battlefield can be got by using data fusion technique to process different kinds of information from different sensor.Firstly, the essential techniques of data fusion including data correlation, state estimate, identity fusion, situation and threat assessment and so on are introduced briefly according to the common model of data fusion. Then the structure of multi-sensor system is analyzed and some familiar sensors are introduced briefly in this paper.A realization scheme of heterogeneous multi-sensor data fusion system is designed in this paper. Firstly, structural design of the system is given and the initialization work and the method using GPS information to orient are introduced; then, the processing of multi-information of the system including the measured data of radar, infrared and electro-optical tracking system that comprises coordinate transformation, correlation, data fusion and so on is stressed. The methods of threat assessment and decision making of the system basing on the theory of data processing are introduced briefly; finally, simulation environment of the system is simulated and the simulation results show that the designed system realizes the desired functions.
