Radar and infrared sensors are two kinds of sensors which are most widely used in the military field.Radar obtains target's distance information and angle information by receiving electromagnetic wave which is reflected by the target. But because of its large electromagnetic radiation power,it is easy to be attacked by electromagnetic interference and anti-radiation weapons. The infrared sensors can obtain the target measurement information by receiving target's electromagnetic radiation information passively. However, the infrared sensors can only obtain the angle information with higher precision instead of the distance information.Meanwhile, the space-based infrared platform is sensitive to the weather factors such as clouds. The infrared sensor itself does not emit electromagnetic wave,so its concealment performance is much better than radar. Therefore,to construct a multi-sensor information fusion system which is composed of radar and infrared sensors can form a good complementary effect.First of all,we introduce the knowledge which is needed to know about the fusion process of radar / infrared sensor system and make a global understanding of the whole fusion process. The required knowledge includes the types of coordinate systems which are required to represent the observed data,pre-fusion techniques, the structure of the fusion model and the motion model to be used in the simulation. Then the association between radar and infrared sensor in distributed system is studied.A two-step association method of rough association and fine association is designed.Firstly, the rough association is applied through the angle information of the trajectory,so that the fine association can be performed in the linear system. In the fine association step, the association algorithm is based on fuzzy comprehensive decision making theory, through the membership degree to judge the correlation between the tracks.Aiming at the problem of the traditional algorithm decreasing the quality of association in the dense target scene, the quality of the association can be effectively improved by optimizing the fixed fuzzy weight set in the process of the algorithm to a weight function which can adapt to the distance information. Finally, based on the observation equations of radar and infrared sensors,we derive the first-order Taylor expansion to build the simulation platform. The algorithm of convex track fusion is used to simulate the performance of fusion in different scenarios.A simplified adaptive fusion algorithm based on track combination is proposed.Compared with the convex track fusion algorithm, the proposed algorithm can balance between operand and performance better.
