With the rapid development of computer technology and Internet, there are a large number of different types of available resources which is generated on the web. Researchers attempt to form a great resources sharing platform, by organizing a wide range of heterogeneous computer systems together, which is called Grid. Through Grid, users can access to the resources they need easily and fast without having to care about the details. In addition to provide users with powerful computing ability, the grid system also provides a variety of data-sharing of resources, storage space, network services, etc. However, due to the characteristics of grid resources are distribution, variety, dynamic and autonomy, that making Grid Resource Management becomes one of the important factors of grid system. Grid Resource Management include: resource discovery, resource scheduling and resource monitoring. Grid resource discovery is the basis for resource management.Whether any accurate, rapid and comprehensive discoveries of resources can directly affects the efficiency of resource management. In recent years, research of resource discovery have great progress at home and abroad, many research result have been bring forward in terms of structure and methods of resource discovery systems. However, the current grid systems are targeted at a certain area or project, so the discovery of resources are also concentrated in a confined area, and the resources described in different ways. This situation has led the way that a resource which is described by different resource Description can not gain coherence understanding between different grid systems. With the development of scientific computing and grid applications, research of multi-field and interdisciplinary needs a wide range of mutual cooperation between different grid systems. So the use of resources will not be limited to certain areas. Considering about the limitation of grid resource discovery, it is meaningful to establish a grid resource discovery model which is extensible and uniform understanding.After learning Resource Description Framework and combined it with meta-data concepts, this thesis defined a RDF based grid meta-data resource description method. On this basis we designed a RDF-metadata based Grid Resource Discovery model (RBGRD). This model supports Grid Information Service register to resource discovery model by submitting their RDF schema, and completes the resources mapping to global resource description. Queries of resources will be converted to sub-queries, which accord with given grid information service, by global resource description conversion. Sub-queries will be finished at each node. The result will be gathered and submit to the user in a unified view.
