The bevel gear with characteristics like high bearing ability,smooth operation, low noise and compact laid-out has been widely used in the rear axle of car.the trditional machine is complex in structure,the machine settings computation are tedious, which increase the machining error and machining cost. But the CNC machine simplifies tradition machine's complex structure, enhanced the machining accuracy, reduced the machining cycle and machining cost. At present, the CNC machining technology overseas is far ahead of our country, and Overseas keeps secret in the key technologies. Therefore, studing the CNC machining method for bevel gear and developing corresponding software can solve our country bevel gear's machining key technologies problem, speed up our country's manufacture of CNC bevel gear machine domestically, and improve the bevel gear's quality and efficiency.Base on gear meshing theory,in this paper the computation methods of the bevel gear's dimensions were reseached. Using the obtained dimensions and local conjugate theory of gearing, the gear generating cutting methods , the gear formatting cutting methods , the pinion title cutting methods and the pinion modified roll cutting method were reseached .the gears's tooth face equation was deduced, the contact trace , the Motion curves and the momnetary contact ellipse were calculated, which have the vital significance to analyze the processing quality. Also the principle of the kinematic transformation from traditional machine to CNC bevel gear machine is introduced, and the CNC cutting machine kinetic control model is built.The bevel gear aided design machining software developed by VC++ realizes the bevel gear's dimensions computation, the machine setting parameters computation and the gear teeth contact analysis as well as CNC knife position spots computation. Based on the UG platform, the bevel gear machining simulation software is developed, which realized bevel gear's CNC machining simulation by the knife position spots.Applying the bevel gear aided design software and machining simulation software,a cutting experiment about raer bevel gears of some automobile was done. Finally the CNC machining technology of the bevel gear has been confirmed through the simulation experiment this paper done.
