The New York Times,a most Influential and well-known newspaper in the world ,is considerably important for a country shaping its national image in the newspaper.lt is so helpful for us to review the shaping process objectively and clearly,as to analyze and sum up the causes behind the phenomenon,so that we can adopt more targeted measures aiming at enhancing our country's national image.Therefore, the research on China-related reporting espechialy in The New York Times has always been on the academic attention.This paper is divided into 1997 analysis of China-related reports, the 2007 China-related reports, as well as comparative results of the analysis about 1997 and 2007 China-related reports in three parts.The analyses are mainly from the field of classification, tendentious, reviews, the front page of the agenda of China-related reporting and so on. The study will focus on two endpoint of the decade, namely,1997 and 2007, that is, from a longer period of time to make a historical longitudinal observation and analysis. Decade, Time Passes Quickly, no matter China or the world, are both experiencing rapid and diverse changes, and of course, New York Times is also developing its own.The Study shows that comparing China-related coverage in 2007 with that in 1997, something changed, and some things remained the same(This article referrs them as new issues and traditional topics). Tendency is towards a more neutral than before,comment more balanced,reported hot political topic from start to economy,social and environment.All kinds of changes and remains are both of concern in this study,and the underlying reasons behind them will be explored. Finaly,these revealed results will provide a reference for the government in external communications and foreign policy decision-makings,and at the same time,bring out some academic and professional inspiration.
