The nonlinear science applications are increasing more and more quickly in modern mathematics, as an important branch of nonlinear science, chaos theory is widely researched. This paper studies chaos-based encryption, especially chaos-based image encryption, by mathematical reasoning and numerical simulation experiment, following the major coverage:Analyzing a image encryption based on one-dimension chaotic map that newly published, find out some existing problems and break the encryption down using chosen plaintext and chosen ciphertext, which is success. That illustrates that image encryptions based on chaos have some weak points, need further in-depth study.Proposing a new combination image encryption based on chaos, which innovating the mode between image confusion and diffusion. For the combination encryption has less step than classical encryption, the speed has been increased without security reducing. The algorithm generates confusion sequence by discrete Baker map, and generates diffusion sequence by some one-dimension chaotic maps with randomly selected, and the order of diffusion is depending on the direction of confusion sequence, so the pattern of combination is in-depth compound of image confusion and diffusion.Give an outline of the developing of future networks, the reason of designing next-generation internet is to solve the problems of using internet architecture. Whether internet technology or internet itself is in rapid growth, and shortage of IP addresses makes the next-generation networks will come soon, so it will be helpful for chaos-based encryption developing to analyze it's state of existence in future networks. To solve the problem of the shortage of IP addresses and make networks more secure and reliable, offering general QoS, it is probably to reform the internet architecture. Under this background, for the developing of chaos-based image encryption depending on the internet, it is important that whether the encryptions can hold and develop in new network background and mechanism. Studies show that chaos-based encryption still energetic in next-generation internet.
