At present, the computer animation has been widely used in the field of entertainment, film and simulation. The fur's simulation has an important role to reality of animation. The hair tremendous computing workload became the bottleneck of the hair simulation. This causes the difficulties of rendering the real-time fur, the fur's shadow and dynamic effect. So how to render the real fur quickly became the key of computer animation. Recently, the fur's rendering based on GPU become the hot topic of the fur's simulation. Four aspects are probed into as follows:Firstly, for the fur's simulation, the Lengyel's method based on the laminar texture was studied, specially the texture and illumination model. The real-time performance of the fur's shadow simulation and the dynamic fur's simulation were studied.Secondly, the function of GPU was analyzed. The translation of vertices of the meshes was calculated on the vertex shader of GPU, so the time-consuming of the generation of meshes was reduced. The"GPU back culling"was used to generate fins of the dynamic fur, and the vertex shader was used to process the vertices of fins. The higher efficiency of dynamic fur simulation was achieved. Thirdly, for the simulation of the fur's shadow, the polynomial texture mapping was merged into the Lengyel's method to solve the poor real-time performance. Detailedly, the direction of light and the coefficients of PTM were only needed to renew the colors of surface, so it can enhance the effect, save the consuming of system and get the better real-time performance of the simulation of the fur's shadow. Finally, the fur simulation algorithm was realized, the improvements were proved.
