With wireless communication playing more and more important role, BWA has extensive applied foreground and huge development potential as an important part of wireless communication. IEEE 802.16d, which is a kind of BWA technology used in WMAN, is used for resolving"the last one kilometre"communication requirement. It can provide more wide area and higher rate and will be more flexible especially in area where there is lack of basic infrastructure. So it has received much attention from people and become a research hotspot. The paper mainly researches on service scheduling scheme for IEEE 802.16d. 802.16d air interface is composed of PHY and MAC layer. Firstly, MAC protocol is analyzed, especially the MAC CPS. Secondly, the paper researches the QoS mechanism of MAC from two sides, the management of service flow and QoS guarantee. The improved layer-crossing QoS framework is proposed for shortcomings of the existing QoS framework. Service scheduling algorithms are one of the key parts to realize QoS. The paper mainly studies and compares the generic scheduling algorithms used in wired and wireless network. Aiming at the shortcomings of classical RR and MAX C/I algorithms, the advanced MAX C/I algorithm is proposed to get the balance of fairness and throughput, and then an class-based uplink service scheduling scheme is designed for IEEE 802.16d MAC, which considers both the QoS of every service and fairness and system throughput. Finally, the OPNET simulation platform is constructed to evaluate the performance of the modified MAX C/I and the class-based scheduling scheme. The simulation results show that the scheme satisfies the QoS requirement of every service and improves the fairness of the users and system throughput.
