Coal is well recognized as one of the most important energy resources for traditional industries and every day lives. And the requisition is increasingly significant with the high speed industrial development. Especially, the quality of rural coal is concerned as one of the fundamental economic indicators in coal analysis. Normally speaking, the price of the coal is directly associated with the ranks of quality. The quality of coal is hugely caused by the variation of origin; furthermore, even from same origins, due to different geological structures, coal qualities are changed dramatically. On behalf of protecting the interests of the Coal-fired plants and avoiding the deception of Coal-suppliers which large mounts of economic loss happened. Also, some coal-fired units need to conduct high-quality and low quality coal co-firing to raise the utilization efficiency, coal quality analysis is crucially needed. Consequently, a portable system of coal quality analysis is developed based on the research of coal quality analysis method.The research is fundamentally carried upon the study of isotope coal quality measurement method. Firstly, the measurement ofγanti-scattering method is selected and the mapping relations and mathematical model are built for further relationship study of interactions betweenγray and materials. Meanwhile, the calibration is fulfilled with the least-squares algorithm. In the second place, the functional requirements are analyzed and basic structure of the portable system of coal quality measurement is designed according with the requirement of coal quality measurement. Correspondingly, in aspects of measurement host's software and hardware, the measurement mainframe, PC management, wire and wireless communications for system are designed as well. Finally, the system already developed is debugged and applied successfully which the ideal results expected originally are all achieved; moreover, the operational performance and measurement precision are equally meet the requirements for coal quality measurement.It is proved that the design of the portable coal quality analysis system with outstanding features of practical utilization, extensively feasibility and ideal measurement precision can be positively considered as valuable in industry applications.
