4G Convergence in television industry will represent as the combination of color TV, PC, multimedia-based entertainment terminal and other digital products. This trend definitely contributes to an innovation of products and technology during different stages in TV industry. Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) is just one of the newest achievements in the trend of 4G Convergence, and it will push a further innovation in TV industry. The advantage of Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) compares with traditional TV is that the functions of single chip are powerful. These functions include high definition decoding, IP addressing and searching and browsing various multimedia files. At present, picture controlling chip is the most important chip of flat panel TV, which includes MCU, VIDEODECODER, ADC, SCALER, DEINTERLACE and so on. Many functions such as HDMI receiving, analog YPBPR/RGB receiving, audio signal decoding, and many other interfaces, which will become the centre for multimedia-based information and entertainment in the future. At the same time, single chip will decrease the number of periphery apparatus, reduce cost and take an advantage in the market. Single chip processing will be the main characteristic of flat panel TV market in the future.MST6I78MX with high density integration, good image processing performance and high cost performance integrates image scaling processing module,3D video scaling processing module, MCU, HDMI receiver, USB processor, IF processor. This chip will satisfy the television demand of China, Europe, America and Australia. Because of the high density integration, most functions are realized by the controlling of software system, which includes many modules, such as system initialization module, UART module, TIMER module, power source management module, HDMI CEC module, OSD module, USB module, signal detection module, signal process module and so on. Besides these, many other modules are designed to satisfy various market needs. In order to guarantee the chip production on large scale, the software designs white-balance automatic adjustment, automatic testing and many other functions, and maximize the production efficiency.The main content of the thesis is the realization of MST6I78MX single-chip for TV set, which mainly includes the architecture of software design, the modularization in network design and multimedia design, the optimization of image quality design, and the design of the white-balance automatic adjustment system etc. In order to realize the design and the functions of the software system, at first, study the characteristics function of the chip and grasp the kernel structure, and which is the basis of the overall design for the software's framework. Second, combine the trend of current industry and the need of customer, apply the network in TV, realize the multimedia function by studying the coding standard of all kinds of images,musics and videos, optimize the image quality by investigating the GAMMA curve etc, realize the function of white-balance automatic adjustment by investigating the whole technology. The application of these technologies has realized all system of the MST6I78MX, and the LCD which using that has been the leader of TV industry. At the same time the design of single chip for network multimedia TV has also launched a new rise of television development.
