Along with the development of mobile communication and embedded technology, functions and value-added services of mobile terminal are becoming richer. This kind of change is greatly improving working efficiency and quality of life. However, at the same time, personal data management and secure issues are becoming more and more urgent along with the convenience provided by the portability, diversity and open network access environment of mobile terminal. Data secure backup technology for mobile terminal comes into being under this background, and is a forward-looking and practical topic. Data secure backup technology not only provides an effective way to deal with information fragmentation, but also is the foundation of PIM, providing the technical foundation and security to its practical application.Firstly, this paper do lots of research on PIM and data security of mobile about potential applying requirement and research values. Then, the paper provides a design of data backup system for mobile terminal according to the hardware and software and the feature of backup data, which is based on the application, requirement and relevant technology. The system takes advantage of modular and hierarchical architecture, to make sure that the system has good flexibility and scalability, to be easily improved and functionally expanded. On the other hand, secure threats of the system are analyzed, providing a relevant secure strategy by researching on the existing sophisticated information security technology.Finally the client software of backup system is implemented under Windows Mobile embedded platform according to the system architecture introduced before. The software provides functionality of backuping the contact information, SMS, e-mail, scheduling and SIM card information stored on the smart device in security according to the user's setting. Architecture and flow chart of personal data acquisition module, data security module and data synchronization module are described in detail, including the verification of its basic functions.
