TETRA is a private radio telecommunication system based on digital TDMA technology. It is normative and opening system established and designed since the middle of 1990s by ETSI to meet the demand of using mobile communication in the special departments and organizations in Europe. Compared with other digital trunked communication systems, it could provide more service functions, more flexible network moding, and better spectrum efficincy and communication quality. By now, the system has been world-wide used with its integrated standard structure and advanced technology.Conformance testing means that equipment is tested to verify whether its performance or feature conforms to relevant technical standards and to see whether different equipment to be tested meet unified requirements so that those equipment take the same actions under the same exterior circumstances and give out the same results. The goal of communication equipment conformance testing is to fully guarantee performance comformability and correct inter-connection of the products of different manufacturers in the network, maintain legal rights of customers and ensure good operation of the network. Communication equipment conformance testing involves many factors, such as RF, Protocal, Acoustic, Application, network inter-operability and so on, of which RF comfornace is the most fundamental and important factor.Starting from an introduction of TETRA communication system, this thesis briefly introduces the basic concept of conformance testing and automatic testing system. And the thesis also explains in details the items, requirements, methods, and significance of TETRA base station and mobile station RF conformance testing. In terms of the tesing contents, the thesis not only brings forward several problems in TETRA RF testing but also provides relevant solutions to these problems. Moreover, considering the current situation of TETRA industry and the requirements of testing, this thesis successfully puts forward the improved design proposal of TETRA base station and mobile station RF conformance automatic testing system in hardware and software. Finally, the thesis conducts a brief analysis of measurement uncertainty of TETRA base station and mobile station RF conformance testing.
