An Analysis Of Wireless City Based On Business Ecosystem

In 2004, Philadelphia layed out the plan for Wireless City, bringing the global wave of Wireless City construction.Wireless city, with high-speed broadband wireless network covering administrative districts, provides information to public via wireless technology and terminals. Wireless City, called 'the city's fifth public infrastructure', has become a major new trend. The information is transferred quickly and easily with it. But in this wave of Wireless City, most of Wireless City builders encounterd a series of difficulties, and didn't figure out a sustainable business model for it. Currently, how to build and operate Wireless City becomes the focus of global attention, it is very necessary and important to analyze and research Wireless City.This paper first introduced the definition and application of Wireless City, summed up the status of current wireless city's building, analyzed the problems and obstacles encountered from technalogy, business model and application respects. Then, it analyzed the factors that affect the building of Wireless City, including policy environment, economic environment, social environment and technological environment. Next, based on the analysis of wireless city and the commercial eco-system theory, Wireless City's commercial eco-system is built. According to three kinds of development strategy, that is keystone strategy, dominator strategy and niche strategy, the development strategy of Wirelesss City's opetators, government and other organizations related is suggested. Finally, the case of Taipei's Wireless City is studied and the strategy for developing Wireless City in our country is also adviced.
