Reliability is one of the important factors of communication system. The error-control technology, which is very useful in improving the reliability of communication, has become an interesting field.Turbo codes are the focus of research on decoding and encoding because of their good performance which approach to the Shannon limit. Turbo codes are better than the other codes in low SNR.The basic theory of Turbo codes are introduced in this thesis. And researchs are also done on the method of Turbo codes encoding and decoding. Here we also analyses the factors which impact the performance of Turbo codes. The analysis is proved by the simulation results, and it is useful to design the Turbo codes.In order to improve the error-floor of Turbo codes, we study the RS-Turbo concatenated codes. Comparison between the ability of RS-Turbo and Turbo codes is made in the thesis.The effects of code rate, interleaver on the BER performance of RS-Turbo codes are also studied here. Still, the combination between RS-Turbo and ARQ is done in the thesis. We get the BLER curves and the throughput of the RS-Turbo HARQ. Also the effect of the code rate of Turbo codes on the RS-Turbo HARQ is studied here. When we use lower code rate in Turbo code, we get lower BLER and lower throughput in RS-Turbo HARQ, while use higher code rate, we get higher BLER and higher throughput, as is shown in the simulation results.At the last of the thesis, some conclusions are made about the achievement.
