The patch-clamp technique is an important electrophysiology method for studying ionic channel currents of cells. An embedded system is designed for special application to achieve particular purpose. The patch-clamp system constructed by embedded technique that makes features of miniaturization, customization, low power dissipation, high integration and high resource utilization has longer life cycle of product and can avoid the inconveniences caused by update of software and hardware for developers and researchers. The embedded patch-clamp system developed by us is based on the ARM9 processor and embedded Linux operating system. It is different from traditional one based on PC system in the following aspects: a) the hardware platform is made up of S3C2410 board, peripheral functional circuits and a data acquisition circuit; b) software system includes embedded Linux kernel, application and driver program, both of which are dedicated to patch-clamp experiment. This thesis describes the hardware platform and software system of the embedded patch-clamp system, presents the design scheme of driver program for data acquisition circuit based on bus connection and interruption driver, and introduces the driver design of the patch-clamp control system by reading/writing with S3C2410`s GPIO directly. Then, this thesis emphasizes on the design of fully automatic control program of the embedded system, which provides an amicable man-machine interface. And it was described that design of the program to transformed experimental results into Axon Binary File on general PC. Finally, the methods of debugging during the developing process are also discussed.
