Uninterruptible Power Supply(UPS) has powers storage parts, an AC/DC converter and a DC/AC inverter as major components. With the rapid development of computer science, network technology and modern industry, UPS has got increasing widely used. For the sake of exerting UPS efficiency, nowadays UPS has become an intelligent power supply system and its intelligence is determined by the ample function of UPS supervision. It has become an urgent problem that how to monitor UPS more reliably and efficiently.Firstly, the classification, the development in future of UPS and the elements, the classification of serial communications is outlined. After a detailed analysis of function needed of UPS monitoring and communication software, and a comparison between Delphi 7.0 and VC + + 6.0, Delphi 7.0 is chosen as the development environment for the software. Based on the analysis of advantage and disadvantage for Windows API programming and ActiveX component programming, the latter one has been chosen as method for UPS monitoring and communication software.Secondly, the design and implementation of UPS monitoring and communication Software are Presented based on the development environment and the method. A graphic user Interface, implementation of serial communications module and how to deal with important UPS events are detailed recommend. Article focuses on the implementation of intelligent functions of the software which include software auto start-up with PC Start-up and UPS automatic saving and shut down Program, some key code and the flow charts of the functions are given in the passage.
