The Pure Relationship And Self-identity Through The Self-presentation In The Network

Based on the modernity background, great changes have taken place in the field of public and private caused by the rise of network society. It makes people's way of life change a lot. Network provides a new space of cooperation and exchange and self-shaped for people. So the indifferent interpersonal relationship caused by the technology and ration in the industry age can be reconstructed.This paper uses the methods of survey, case interview and text analysis. Take the self-presentation in private blog and QQ signature as research priority, using the modernity theories of Giddens to explain. The research wants to answer two questions: the first is what kind of relationship people search for in the modernity background and how to develop this relationship; the second is how to construct self-identity through the self-presentation in the network.The study find out that more and more people choose the network to search and establish a kind of relationship which free and equal. And this kind of relationship similar with the pure relationship that Giddens refers to. Network break through the constraint of time and space, making people establish and maintain contact, especially those remote people. In the network, people show themselves really and deeply. They develop the pure relationship on the basis of mutual trust, equal exchange, option for self-determination and mutual benefit. They construct self-identity in three ways: first, show the full changes of writer in a long period by the timing record to maintain the integrity of the self-feeling; second, reflect oneself in the process of choosing what and how to present; third, maximize the presentation of life style to shape their own image in the eyes of others as well as reflect and understand their own characteristics. In the same time, adjust or deepen self-understanding by the feedback of others.Based on these results, put forward the conclusion that presentation and contact in the network are going to become real, integrated and deep.
