Network News Audiences’ Self-presentation And Their Relationship Construction

Comment is a specific audiences’ activity that network news can be apart from traditional media news. Its realization depends on the space characteristics of network news. After using content analysis and textual analysis to quantify the audiences’ replies and case study to probe into the evolution process and basic logic of comment, this paper finds the audiences’ practices in the space of network news have developed a series of skills to express their statuses which are quite different from that of real life with bright characteristics. In the meanwhile, the role playing during the comment is a deeper process of identity construction. Of course, the audiences are not completely free in the the processes above. Their expression of words and statuses are all constrained and affected by the rules that network space brings out. The audiences are dependent on platform technology and content framework, meanwhile attach themselves to the logic of space mobility and authoritative forms, which all lead their activities to be contained by the rules. So to speak, that is audiences’ game spirit and rules of network space along creat the the relationship between communicator while commenting.
