The algorithm of human face detection base on statics grows rapidly. While with the development of embedded technology, the face detection system should meet the requirement of mobile and realtime application field.The content and major contribution of the thesis are listed as follow: 1.Study the algorithm of Adaboost and analyse its computation flaw in order to find out the bottleneck of the performance on embedded system. 2.Construct and implement the face detection system on FPGA platform. Test the performance of the system and bring forward the potential method to improve the speed of the system. 3.Study the way of Impulse C to describe the hardware in detail. Impulse C is a function library compatible with standard ANSI C that enable the development of highly parallel algorithms,which is connected with EDK Tools tightly. On the base of above work, design the hardware accelerator with Impulse C, showed in detail with hardware structure and simulate waveform. 4.Certify the hardware module on FPGA platform and increase the speed of implementation of Adaboost.
