Introducing Wi-Mesh technology to mobile terminal to support a wireless network platform will meet the development trend of internet, and has a very good application perspective.Wi-Mesh technology that combines both the advantages of Wi-Fi and Ad hoc has some excellent features,such as constructing a broadband wireless access and transmission network.Many enterprises and institutes are attracted to make efforts on researching it,including theory and system POC.Till now,many achievements have been made. But all the existing Wi-Mesh products are used to construct quasi-static infrastructure mode WMN system.On condition of the low coverage area of wireless access points and less hardware platform,User mode WMN System hasn't been exploited.No news can be seen in public report on research of user mode wireless mesh technology.With the rapid development of wireless communication technology, manufacturing engineering and requirement of market,Wi-Mesh technology becomes riper and riper,many developed countries and area begin to take WMN as the preferred plan to realize "wireless city". Furthermore,wireless access points are gradually being used everywhere.In addition,more and more terminals take Wi-Fi chips as accessories.All these factors establish a good atmosphere for introducing User Mode WMN system.This project is processed upon IEEE 802.11s standard protocol. The tasks include design of a Wi-Mesh terminal and the corresponding Wi-Mesh Gateway,which consists of developing Wi-Mesh driver, constructing routing system that works under MAC layer,designing Wi-Mesh communication protocol and policies,which are used for optimizing and coordinating system.The Wi-Mesh terminal device is designed based on Nokia N800,which is the hardware platform adopted in this project,Maemo OS inside,supporting subnet self-organizing, self-healing,multi-hopping data transmission,and etc.Wi-Mesh gateway is also designed based on linux kernel for connecting Wi-Mesh subnet to internet.Test result shows that the system is good.The idea and technology used in this project has good portability and can be realized easily in other platforms.
