The planar zirconia oxygen sensor is a quite novel oxygen sensor which developed recently. For the merit of the short response time, small size, low production cost, reliable performance, It appeals to lots of people.This paper mainly bases on the research and development of piece type automobile oxygen sensor, and we has conducted more careful research to the aspects of silk-screen printing, thermo-compression folding craft, the sintering craft, the oxygen sensors porous layer preparation and oxygen sensor signal examination and so on.This topic researches and emphatically analyzes the method of thermo -compression folding. Before folding press, some essential surface treatments are requested, and the range of folding pressure and laminating hot briquetting time and temperature to be determined. The weight of the briquetting has been conducted and experimentally studied which happened during the process of sintering, turn out that the weight of 120g is the optimal weight, after the sintering, the quality of the sample is excellent with stable signal, the electrode connected without the phenomenon of falling off. A lot of experiments of making oxygen sensors porous layer have been done, the results showed that the cementing agent made of ZrO2, also satisfy the property of porosity when the content is 4%~6% satisfies the porous request, heat-resistant shocking is also good; The most suitable agglutination temperature is range from 1350℃to 1450℃and the soaking time of 2h is the best. The sintered sample test results indicated that the piece type oxygen sensor has the advantages of accurate output signal and the short response time, can satisfy the application request of the automobile emissions system basically.
