3D printing technology directly manufactures objects from digital 3D models.In recent years,it has become a research hotspot in the manufacturing field.Fused Deposition Modeling(FDM)technology is one of important 3D printing technologies,which has the advantages of simple principle,safe operation,etc.It has a wide range of applications.However,the existing FDM 3D printers can print in a single direction,the freedom of printing direction is limitedand.To address this problem,a novel scheme is proposed in this thesis.The principal works include as follows:1.A multiple directional FDM 3D printing scheme is designed.First the mechanical hardware is designed,which make sure that the printing platform can rotate freely and multiple directional printing is realistic.The corresponding algorithms are proposed including shape analysis based model decomposition algorithm,breadth first search based printing path palnning algorithm.By integrating these algorithms,the designed printing scheme can print the object with as less as extra supporting structure.It avoids wasting the printing material and preserves the continuous printing.Furthermore,the visual surveillance ensures the printing presicion in the interface between components.2.A prototype multiple directional FDM 3D printer is constructed.Baed on the designed scheme,a 5-axis mechanical system based hardware platform is implemented.Furthermore,the corresponding algorthms are implemented.Based on the printer,a model can be automatically decomposed into several components and printed into a real object.First,the model is decomposed into several components,each of which could be printed in a single direction.Then the decomposed components are sorted to determine the printing order.These components are sliced independently,and each slice file is connected according to the result of the sorting,and a Gcode file that can control printing process is generated.Each time a component is printed,the printing platform is rotated,so that the base plane of the component will be printed is horizontal,which could be preserved by using the visual surveillance.3.The craft improvement methods for multi-directional FDM 3D printing are proposed.A scheme is proposed to address the problems of the coarse printed surface.To the problem that the precision of pseudo binocular visual system is influenced by the mechanical system,a steoro visual surveillance module is introduced.Finally,CO2 laser was used to heat the cross-section between the neighboring components and increase the connection strength.The preliminary experiment demonstrates its effectiveness.The quality of 3D printing objects can be improved by using the improved craft scheme.
