ATS (Auto Test System) based on PXI (PCI eXtensions for Instrumentation) bus is a combination of technologies including: instrument, communication, bus application, digital, computer and digital-analog circuit fault diagnosis.This paper researches on general detection and diagnosis platform for armored equipment and completes the board level test and diagnosis system concretely. The main work is as follows:1. Systematical analysis and review are made for intelligent fault diagnosis methods and architectures of ATS at home and abroad. We summarize the key technologies of new generation ATS. Their prominent feature is open and the key is the interface standardization among both variant systems and internal hardwares and softwares.2. Intelligent fault diagnosis method for large and complicated equipment is studies particularly. On the basis of research on the frame of knowledge acquisition and machine strategy, a novel fault knowledge acquisition method based on simulation and machine study strategy based on genetic algorithm is proposed. According to the problems during the development of intelligent fault diagnosis system, we put forward practical development strategy, methods and steps of submodules, such as man-machine interface module, fault diagnosis and reasoning module, fault diagnosis information acquisition module and machine learning module.3. After the task analysis, the characteristics of present popular ATS based on different bus modes are compaired. We choose PXI as the basis bus mode, design and prepare the second generation board level automatic test and diagnosis system for armored equipment. Its test softerwares have the functions of test execuration, test simulation, fault diagnosis, system selftest and self calibration. It has two dectetion modes: PCB/module level and system level test. It is proved to perform well in openness, extensibility, portability and generality through experiments.4. TPS (Test Program Set) of system, PCB and integrated circuit board has been developed. There are five PCBs which need test: CPU board, source board, stepmotor driving board and controlling board. The results of real board test show that our TPS can supply both automatic and man-machine interactive test. It has the ability of detection, fault diagnosis and location, and its fault converge rate is high. Besides, it has friendly man-machine interface and operation instructions.
