Since the 1990s, the number of accidents and deaths, occurred in China, has been the highest in the world.The traffic management departments and pertinent organizations need to vividly reconstruct the process of traffic accidents through up in 3D animations for understanding the movement conditions of vehicles or pedestrian, when the accidents are analyzed and dealt with. With the development of technology of virtual reality and computer hardware and software, it is possible to three-dimensionally reconstruct the scene of traffic accidents on computer. 3D traffic reconstruction technique consequently increased.The theory and programming technique of three-dimensional traffic accident reconstruction is conducted in this paper. Based on virtual reality technology, how to use OpenGL in MFC is expounded. The method that based on the object to construct the virtual environment of traffic accident is given. The most complex object's model -vehicle is constructed. Reading and loading the 3DS format vehicle models in OpenGL program is achieved. The applications - TAREC, which is used to reconstruct the accidents in terms of 3D animation, is developed. A real traffic accident is successfully reconstructed based on TAREC.
