In recent years, Waveguide device has been the research emphasis of microwave domain because of its firm structure, less loss, high power endurance. In order to enhance the comprehensive index of modern radar, the high-powered dual channel joint becomes more and more important in microwave communication system.There are several ways to realize the dual channel waveguide joint which can achieve polarization separate, for example, the ways of dielectric slice, bolt, metal ridge, clapboard and so on. In this paper, the dual channel waveguide joint based on the clapboard circular polarizer is primarily researched. The clapboard circular polarizer has several advantages compared with other forms of polarization, for instant, broad band, simple process craftwork, compact size, good performance index, high power endurance etc. We haven't found any relative reports about dual channel waveguide joint realized by above combination ways at home and abroad. The paper analyse and design the clapboard circular polarizer operating at X-band, and simulate the three dimension model using HFSS simulation software, contrast the standing wave, phase unbalance , transmission characteristic and isolation index of the clapboard circular polarizer in different parameters, finally obtain the design results of the clapboard circular polarizer which its all indexes are very good. The other composing parts of the clapboard circular polarizer are also researched in this paper, for instance, square-round transform and rotary joint, simulate the two parts and make the each composition performance optimization, finally attain the simulation model and the simulation curve of the dual channel joint based on clapboard circular polarizer.We design and fabricate a clapboard circular polarizer and measure its performance, and the testing results agree well with the simulation results. We have applied the clapboard circular polarizer to the practical engineering. The dual channel joint based on the clapboard circular polarizer have a potential application value in the engineering design.
