The Surface Movement Radar(SMR)is an effective tool for rational programming ground traffic control on airport area,and it is widely applied in operation of the oversea and domestic large airports.The narrow-edge waveguide slotted antenna array because of its compact structure,small dimension and light weight,low side lobe and even super side lobe and other advantages to become SMR system in the core components.In this paper,some key technologies of large aperture antenna used in SMR system with waveguide slot array as the core component are studied.The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly,the application scenario of the Surface Movement Radar system is introduced,and the research background and significance of the large aperture antenna applied in the Surface Movement Radar system are expounded.At the same time,the development history of Surface Movement Radar system and the latest research trends at home and abroad are briefly summarized.Secondly,the working principle of antenna in SMR is introduced.The antenna in SMR is mainly composed of waveguide slot array,horn,polarization filter,anti-cosecant square generator and circular polarizer.The working principles of these components are explained in this paper.The radiation principle of slot antenna,the relationship between horn aperture and gain,the classification of polarization filters,the theory of parallel plate waveguide and the polarization principle of electromagnetic wave are described.Thirdly,according to the theoretical analysis,an antenna which can be used for airport scene monitoring is designed.High Frequency Structure Simulator is used to verify the proposed method.The azimuth 3dB beam width of the antenna is less than 0.36 degrees,and the elevation surface is inversely cosecant square distribution.The main polarization of the antenna is right-handed circular polarization.The effects of metal bandwidth and plate spacing on the axial ratio of grating circular polarizer are investigated.The transmission loss of the grating circular polarizer is less than 0.2dB and the axis ratio is less than 1.3dB.Fourthly,after the components of the antenna are outsourced and processed,we pack them by ourselves and test the electromagnetic performance of the antenna.The measured results show that the designed antenna can meet the basic requirements of airport scene monitoring.Finally,the test results are rethought,and the design principle based on super-surface and super-material is put forward.The matching problem between antenna modules can be reconsidered by using transmission line equation.The influence of the length of the excipient on the reflection coefficient is observed by simulation with the software of Matlab.It verifies the conjecture that the matching effect between modules is not good before.At the same time,the matching problem of circular polarizer is verified.
