High performance MicroChannel Plate (HP-MCP) is a kind of low noise, high gain, able to bake in high temperature vacuum environment and high resolution. The object of research and development of this kind of MicroChannel Plate (MCP) is to improve the third generation image intensifier's signal to noise ratio, luminosity gain, life and spatial resolution, and then to speed up development process of the third generation low light level image intensifier.Adopt clad glass which has high and stable secondary emission coefficient and core glass which has 1000 times greater than clad glass in chemical etch rate and matches with clad glass in thermal physics and border glass which matches the clad glass and core glass in all manufacture process, employ manufacture technology of soluble glass core and adding solid border, and then fabricate high performance MCP. This kind of MCP's dark current density is as small as tenth of the standard MCP and super second generation MCP, background noise and fixed figure noise is reduced obviously, scintillant noise is restrained effectually when it is used in high voltage, after it is coated ion barrier film in its input and used in the third generation image tube, the image intensifier's signal to noise ratio is 25, when it bears 500℃vacuum baking for 2 hours and electron scrub severely(52μAh) , its electron gain is greater than 500, life is greater 10000h. It is put into the super second generation image intensifier; the spatial resolution is greater than 60 Lp/mm.
