21st century is the fast-developing era of the computer network, multimedia information processing and transmission technology. The multimedia monitor technology based on IEEE802.11n will become the main trend of future monitor system. In the present domestic and abroad market, the main products are simulated video monitor system and digital video monitor system. As for the former one, it is no longer suitable for the present society, though it is widely-used and its technology is well-developed with stable performance. The latter one is a newly-appeared video monitor system with the core of communication network and pattern-video compressing.Meanwhile, many enterprises and institutions didn't use the video monitor system because of its high prices. So it is both difficult and unsafe to add monitor system in the previous communication network. As a result, it is practically meaningful to research and use new-style, high-efficient multimedia compressing coding and the wireless and safe communication network.To solve these problems, this paper designs the wireless multimedia monitor system based on IEEE802.11B, using the video compressing standard form MPEG-4 as the storage form of multimedia information. This paper firstly makes a general introduction of the foundation of video monitor technology. And then makes detailed design of the general structure and each module of the multimedia monitor system based on IEEE802.11B. The main part is to introduce and analyze the principles and performance of IEEE802.11 wireless network. It also makes a deep research on the subsystem of the video collection so as to give the readers a comparatively overall understanding of its functions and characteristics.
