Since the term "Web 2.0" appears, a new generation of Web is coming. There are many articles talking about how to design a Web2.0 website. However, the traditional Web1.0 websites are still multitudinous. They do not transform to Web2.0 as massive as these articles. This is because many of these traditional Web 1.0 website developers have not enough technique or time to rebuild their websites to Web 2.0. Rebuilding a website often takes a lot of efforts. A simple and effective strategy to upgrade their websites is needed. The thesis attempts to provide a flexible framework, Web2.0 Toolbar, to upgrade websites from Web1.0 to Web2.0. The Web2.0 Toolbar combines the original Web1.0 web page and additional Web2.0 information together on the fly. Therefore, the website developers need not to rewrite their websites, and the users will be able to experience additional Web2.0 functions. In the thesis, we have implemented tag, comment, chat room and RSS functionalities of Web2.0.The further directions of this study will be separated to four parts. First, using the framework to make Web2.0 Toolbar is possible to the other browsers. Second, enhance the four existent services. Third, we can gather statistics of tags and comments to encourage users to make more tags/comments. Final direction is that we can find more and more practice Web2.0 services and enrich the functions of the Toolbar framework.
